Brand History
In 1989, Audi has developed a first vehicle with electric drive, the hybrid vehicle Audi 100 duo. This, however, remained at first without successor. 20 years later, when the electric mobility increasingly moved into the public interest, the plans for electric cars were revived also at Audi.
First, the term e-tron was used only for concept vehicles, the decision to use the term in the series and to establish itself as a brand later fell -.
